Working Waterman Story

A Lifelong St. Mary’s Waterman

Johnny is a lifelong St. Mary’s County, Maryland working waterman. He has worked countless boats throughout Southern Maryland, harvesting Rockfish, Bluefish, Perch, Menhaden and bait fish, crabs, and oysters.

As hired senior crew, Johnny brings the kind of hands-on experience that captains and crews depend on. His work includes installing pound nets, driving poles, hanging net, working gear, and helping bring the harvest aboard when the day’s catch comes in.

Johnny can be found on almost any fishing vessel at any time as the heavy lifter — the working hand who knows what needs to be done and how to get it done. Years across the waterways of Southern Maryland have made him a valuable asset to many captains and crews, with experience in every phase of small scale commercial fisheries.
