Working Waterman Story
Jerry Lukefahr is a lifelong working waterman. For 46 years, Jerry has harvested the waters of North Carolina from the Pamlico Sound to Cape Hatteras, Ocracoke Island, and the inlets and rivers between as both captain and crew.
Across Pamlico Sound, Core Sound, Ocracoke Island, and Cape Hatteras, Jerry is known as one of the most accomplished hand clammers to ever work those waters. His reputation was built through decades of skill, stamina, local knowledge, and the kind of practical experience that only comes from a lifetime on the water.
After decades fishing North Carolina waters, Jerry relocated to Southern Maryland, where he now works the St. Mary’s River, Potomac River, Patuxent River, and Chesapeake Bay. His experience adds deep working-water knowledge to the local harvest and helps carry forward the tradition of seafood with true provenance.
